Jason Keeling, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Allegheny Highlands, briefed the Commission on local Red Cross activities and presented a proclamation recognizing March 2026 as American Red Cross Month. Keeling reported that in 2025 the Red Cross assisted eight households (19 individuals) after home fires in Upshur County; collected 351 units of blood across 11 local drives; provided CPR/First Aid training to 428 people; and supported military members, veterans and their families in six cases.
Commission President Kristie G. Tenney read the proclamation declaring March 2026 as American Red Cross Month and the Commission approved the proclamation on a motion by Doug Bush, seconded by Sam Nolte.
Why it matters: The proclamation recognizes the volunteer and emergency-response work of the Red Cross in Upshur County and highlights local preparedness and blood-donation efforts.
Next steps: The proclamation is ceremonial and the Red Cross will continue local programs and partnerships with county emergency management and other stakeholders.
