Katie Cox, media coordinator for Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC), told KWCD listeners the cooperative will begin sending randomly selected member surveys on April 13 and encouraged members to ensure their email addresses are up to date.
"Member input directly impacts our decisions," Cox said, describing democratic member control within the cooperative and urging members who receive invitations to participate. She outlined the annual meeting — May 28 at Benson Unified School District (registration at 06:00; meeting starts at 07:00) — and listed local town halls: Sierra Vista on May 11, Elfrida on May 14, Wilcox on May 18 and Patagonia on May 21.
Cox described safety and outreach programs SSVEC provides, infrastructure and digital upgrades, and incentives such as door prizes and a retired SSVEC truck that could be won; she also noted the cooperative is member-owned and not-for-profit and encouraged community engagement during Line Worker Awareness Month.
For members who cannot attend the annual meeting, SSVEC plans local town halls and outreach so members can still learn about cooperative business, review reports and speak with staff and linemen. Registration and additional details were directed to the coop’s website and social channels.
