The Denton County Commissioners Court on March 24 presented and adopted a proclamation honoring Sarah Hensley for her years of service to the City of Denton.
The proclamation records Hensley’s service timeline: joining the city in May 2019, promotion to deputy city manager in July 2020, service as interim city manager beginning February 2021, and a unanimous council appointment as city manager in March 2022 (the proclamation describes her as the city’s first female city manager). The court cited her leadership through Winter Storm Uri, response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and partnerships that advanced local projects including transportation improvements, the Downtown Denton ambassador program and housing initiatives.
Commissioners and the judge praised Hensley’s professionalism and partnership with county staff. Hensley accepted the recognition and said she was “only as good as the people that I work with,” thanked staff and partners and urged continued cooperation between the city and county.
The court adopted the proclamation by voice vote after the chair moved the item and Commissioner Edmondson seconded; the judge recorded the motion as carrying unanimously.
