Arts Commission approves new subcommittee roster and records minutes approval

The Carlsbad Arts Commission approved new subcommittee assignments and recorded approval of the March minutes during its April 2 meeting.

Staff outlined vacancies for the Arts Commission Work Plan Subcommittee, Arts and Culture Master Plan Subcommittee and the Police & Fire Headquarters Public Art Advisory Committee. Commissioners self‑nominated for roles to fill the openings: Commissioner Breyer volunteered for the work plan subcommittee, Commissioner McClory for business outreach, and Commissioners Salvaty Coola, George and Nasiri for the Police & Fire Headquarters Public Arts Subcommittee. Chair Chung recapped the nominations before the vote.

Commissioner Breyer moved to approve the slate and Commissioner George seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Earlier in the meeting the commission also approved the March 5 minutes (motion moved by Commissioner Nasiri, seconded by Commissioner Clark) with five votes in favor and two abstentions recorded by the minutes clerk.

Staff said the new assignments will remain in place through June 2026, when the commission will revisit the roster and accept changes. The commission thanked nominees for stepping into the roles.
