Andrea Hilliard, principal librarian for digital initiatives and special projects, updated trustees on several technology projects.
Hilliard said one bidder met the lowest-qualified-bidder requirement for the Schulman Auditorium AVL (audio, video, lighting) improvement; "the next step is to go to city council for approval and additional appropriation of funds scheduled for May 7," she said. The Exploration Hub makerspace and memory lab were upgraded in late March with 14 patron laptops replacing iMacs, a dedicated wireless access point, and an upgraded 3D printer. Memory lab services for digitizing home VHS, Hi8, Super 8 and slides remain available by reservation.
Staff are identifying replacements for patron printers at the Cole, Dove and Learning Center locations with a target installation late summer or early fall. Hilliard also described a new Patron Traffic Analytics project with parks and recreation to measure daily entrance counts, space occupancy and visitor duration; an RFQ is expected to post within a few months to solicit solutions.
Trustees had no public speakers on the item and thanked staff for the update; several trustees asked follow-up questions about monthly statistics later in the meeting.
