The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation board voted to approve the appointment of Amy Mokos as principal of W.D. Richards Elementary during its March 30 meeting.
Assistant Superintendent Erin Stahlbaum recommended Mokos, saying the interview team—made up of teachers, support staff and a parent—selected Mokos after a comprehensive process. Stahlbaum described Mokos as a candidate who aligns with the school’s stated priorities and noted Mokos’s district experience: hired as an elementary teacher in August 2019, later serving as an elementary counselor and becoming assistant principal at Parkside Elementary in July 2024. Stahlbaum told the board, "Amy is a passionate, dedicated, trustworthy, and exceptionally talented leader," and recognized members of the interview team by name.
Board members moved and seconded the recommendation and conducted a roll-call vote that approved the appointment. The chair announced the motion carried and district leaders offered congratulations.
Mokos addressed the board and audience, thanked the interview and selection committee and district leaders, and said she was "honored to lead the team at Richards" and committed to prioritizing stakeholder engagement and student well‑being. She referenced mentors and colleagues who supported her growth in the district and said she is eager to return to Richards in this new role.
The appointment replaces the previous principal and will take effect according to district personnel procedures. The board’s action followed the district’s public process of nomination and interview; no public comments were raised specifically about this HR recommendation before the vote.
The board proceeded to other recognitions and business after the approval.
