Garfield County approves surplus equipment sales and awards bridge construction and materials bids

Garfield County commissioners on March 23 approved the sale of multiple District #2 equipment items and awarded two bridge-related bids, moving forward on infrastructure and surplus-asset disposition.

By unanimous vote the board adopted Resolution #26-50 to dispose of specified District #2 equipment at the Graham Auction in Elk City, Oklahoma. The resolution lists individual items and sale amounts presented in the record, including a loader sold for $41,400, a John Deere tractor for $8,280, and various pickups, trailers and tools sold for amounts ranging from about $184 to $5,520. The board stated the sales were deemed in the county’s best interest.

On bridge projects, Vice-Chairman Reese Wedel moved to award Bid #26-10 for District #3 bridge construction to Dietz Welding & Bridge Construction Inc. for $85,000 (with an additional $70 per linear foot if extra pile driving is required) and to award Bid #26-11 for bridge materials to Sunbelt Equipment for $80,768.46. The board also approved and authorized the chairman to sign the construction contract with Dietz for the Bridges over Unnamed Creek project (24N2800E0520003) in District #3. All motions passed unanimously.

The meeting record did not include the project timetable or specific funding sources for the construction contract; staff were authorized to execute the contract documents as approved.

Next steps: staff will proceed with contract administration and coordinate the sale of surplus equipment through the auctioneer identified in the county record.
