Candidate says she would trim county 'bloat' and demand accountability for big projects and fees

When asked about the commission office — described by hosts as having grown from a few advisers to a larger staff and hiring a county administrator — Cafuzzi said she would ask tough questions and cut roles that could not demonstrate value. "Smaller is efficient," she said, describing past decisions to reduce staff while maintaining service delivery.

On budgeting process, Cafuzzi favors departmental accountability and iterative review. She said she asked departments to present reduced budgets (for example, what they could deliver with a 10% cut) to force prioritization and defend line items publicly.

The conversation ranged over legacy, long‑term agreements and regionally funded projects. Hosts noted a county interlocal agreement that contributed about $19.5 million upfront and annual payments to Provo Airport for expansion.
