House Judiciary schedules votes on property disclaimers, home-improvement fraud, repeat OUI penalties and deferred-sentence bill

The chair of the House Judiciary Committee told members the panel would meet for committee discussion and possible votes in the near term on four measures: S.179 (an act relating to a uniform disclaimer of property interests), S.183 (an act relating to home improvement and land-improvement fraud, which the chair said would go to the governor if passed), S.203 (an act revising penalties for second or subsequent operating under the influence violations), and S.181 (the deferred-sentence bill previously discussed in testimony).

The chair noted S.183 carried no amendments and would proceed to the governor if advanced, while S.203 includes a minor amendment that would send it back to the senate if changed. S.181 contains an amendment and would return to the senate if the committee advances the amended version. The chair said the committee would aim to "clear the deck" before taking up forensic solutions and other items on the calendar.

No votes were recorded at the hearing; members were told to expect committee discussion and possible votes at the next meeting.
