Board denies two expulsion appeals, grants two and assigns students to alternative program

Following executive session, the Berkeley County Board of Education announced formal action on four student expulsion appeals.

Mister McQuillan moved to deny the appeal for student number 1; the motion was seconded and, after no further discussion, the board recorded the ayes and the chair announced the motion carried (vote recorded 7–0). For student number 2, Mister McQuillan moved to grant the appeal and assign the student to the Next Steps Learning Center; the motion was seconded and approved (vote recorded 7–0). For student number 3, a motion to grant the appeal and assign the student to Next Steps was moved and seconded and approved (vote recorded 8–0). For student number 4, the board moved to deny the expulsion appeal (motion seconded) and approved the motion (vote recorded 8–0).
