Trempealeau County supervisors approved several small grants and budget adjustments during the meeting.
The board accepted a $1,500 Brain Health mini grant from the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging to the county's Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) for brain health education and outreach; the ADRC will carry the funding into the 2026 budget and implement educational activities, potentially including speaker events for caregivers and those in early stages of dementia.
The Education and Communication Committee also introduced a resolution transferring the non-lapsing water quality education and water sampling funds (initially held with the UWMadison Division of Extension, Trempeale County) into designated non-lapsing accounts under the Trempealeau County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS); the board approved the immediate transfer and directed that any remaining balances or encumbrances be moved in full.
Separately, the board approved a $5,000 transfer of 2025 cost savings from a professional services account into the 2025 non-lapsing youth education fund to eliminate a negative balance and cover youth education activities.
Each measure was introduced by committee, moved and seconded, and approved by roll call. Officials noted the Brain Health grant is modest and intended for outreach and caregiver education; the water-fund transfer and youth education transfer are administrative budget adjustments to align funds with program responsibilities.
