Plantation council reviews preliminary speed-camera data; chief says warning period ends April 15

The Plantation Police Department briefed the City Council on preliminary speed-camera data and the status of the warning period for automated enforcement.

Chief Schlegel and staff said the vendor produced a new demographics-style report showing registered-owner locations and total warnings. Council members noted spelling inconsistencies in vendor outputs (multiple spellings of Plantation, Fort Lauderdale, etc.) and asked that the vendor correct those anomalies and provide totals per school so the city can better interpret where warnings were occurring.

Council members also discussed signage and the placement of school-zone warnings; the chief said officers and staff verified signage placement and that each camera zone has the correct times programmed. The chief said the warning period ends April 15 and that the vendor would run additional reports as the program continues to be tuned.

Council requested follow-up reports with cleaned data, per-school totals and any recommended signage improvements.
