Oklahoma House opens session, honors Autism Foundation and Tuttle football champions

The Oklahoma House of Representatives convened on April 2, 2026, opening with roll call and an invocation by Chaplain Ronnie Wilson, who reflected on the Easter account from Mark and told members, “He has risen.” Representative Travis led members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Representative Jacob Rosecrans moved and read a formal citation recognizing April 2 as World Autism Day and noting Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, saying the citation highlights that “autism affects 1 in 31 children and 1 in 45 adults.” The House directed that citation be presented to the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma.

Members also welcomed students from MacArthur Middle School in Lawton, who were seated in the north gallery, and later recognized the Tuttle High School football team for winning the 2025 OSSA Class 4A state championship. Representative Lowe, joined by Representative Bowles, listed season statistics for Tuttle’s 14–0 run — including 90 total touchdowns, four turnovers and more than 5,800 yards of offense — and asked the chamber to welcome Coach Ballard and the team. In presenting the team, Lowe quoted Coach Ballard: “What I do is not a one-man job,” praising assistant coaches, volunteers and booster-club leaders.

Representative Archer told the chamber that the Artemis mission “is now in orbit around Earth” and praised Oklahoma companies in Stillwater and Owasso for contributing to the effort. Other members used the floor for routine personal and committee announcements: Representative Dobransky shared family milestones; Representative Osborne scheduled the Rules Committee meeting for 10:10 a.m. in Room 4S5; Representative Johns reminded transportation committee members of a noon-hour lunch in Room 450 hosted by Open for Business Oklahoma; and Chairman Trey Caldwell advised subcommittee leaders that a planned Monday morning meeting was canceled and to expect a Monday afternoon meeting instead.

Before leaving, the floor leader moved that "when the clerk's desk is clear, the House can adjourn until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 1:30 p.m." The presiding officer declared the House adjourned to that date and time.

The session’s business was largely ceremonial and procedural; no bills were taken up for final action during the time recorded here, and committee meetings and other hearings were scheduled as noted.
