Director reports strong turnout for winter cocoa nights; offices to close for holidays

The Parks & Recreation director reported several recent successful winter events, including cocoa nights in the park and a hot-cocoa evening that featured a lighted trackless train and partnership with community volunteers.

The director said the department had "probably had 500 people throughout the night" for the hot-cocoa event and thanked partners, naming California Dream Express and Twing/Michael with Twing Lighting for their roles in the event set-up. He described the ride route and said staff had to accommodate higher-than-expected attendance; the event ran from about 5 to 7 p.m.

The director also said Parks & Recreation offices would be closed starting Monday for roughly two weeks for the holidays, though staff would be on call for essential matters.
