The Adelanto City Council approved staff's recommendation to award the construction contract for the Seneca Road Rehabilitation project to Hardy & Harper.
Gary, the project presenter, told council the work covers two miles of Seneca Road from Highway 395 to Esther and includes repairs to approximately 126,000 square feet of roadway. He described the pavement section as removing 10 inches of existing material, installing a 6-inch base and 4 inches of asphalt, and said the project had been readvertised to achieve cost savings of about $150,000. Staff said the project cost would be funded through Measure I and would not impact the general fund. Gary said a preconstruction meeting was planned immediately and construction could begin by the end of the month if approvals proceed smoothly.
Councilmembers asked about Caltrans easements near Highway 395 and urged staff to pursue coordination to minimize delays. The council moved to approve the contract; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff will hold preconstruction activities and return with scheduling and coordination details; council also requested staff explore any easement solutions with Caltrans to maximize the project corridor work.
