The Clayton City Council on Nov. 19 authorized a budget amendment not to exceed $60,000 to fund flooring and painting on the third floor of City Hall and approved temporarily closing the floor during the week of Dec. 16, 2024.
Assistant City Manager Regina Rubier presented the proposal and described the scope of the work and the requested budget amendment. Vice Mayor Trupiano moved the authorization and Councilmember Wan seconded the motion. The council approved the measure with four votes in favor and one abstention; Councilmember Cloven recorded the lone abstention. No public commenters spoke on the item.
The authorization directs the City Manager to close the third floor during the scheduled work week to allow contractors to complete the project. The council did not specify funding line-item sources in the meeting record; staff presented the request as a budget amendment not to exceed $60,000.
The council’s action follows routine facilities maintenance needs identified by staff. The City Manager previously announced that the Dec. 3 meeting would be canceled and that a swearing-in ceremony for newly elected officials is scheduled for Dec. 17.
