Jenkins Middle High cheer squad honored after national win

The Jenkins Independent Board of Education opened its March 24 meeting by recognizing the Jenkins Middle High competition cheer squad for returning to competition and earning a first-place finish in the varsity Mount Max division at Cheer Max Nationals.

The board praised the students’ dedication, long hours of practice and community support. The meeting named coaches Sydney Stewart and Bobby Polly and thanked parents and families for their support. A coach described the team’s progress over the season and said the squad put in every ounce of effort to bring home the title. Board members invited the group to participate in the upcoming Chicken's Day Festival parade and invited coaches to say a few words and take a recognition photo.

The recognition was presented during the staff/student spotlight portion of the agenda, and the board publicly thanked the team and coaches for the accomplishment before moving on to regular business.
