On April 1, 2026, the Auburn School Committee approved the Auburn School Department 2026–27 school calendar.
The calendar, explained by Superintendent Sue Doris, maintains a structure consistent with prior years and includes 175 instructional days for students, eight in-service days (including two teacher exchange days), and three storm makeup days. Under the plan the first three snow days will be traditional in-person makeup days; any additional snow days beyond three would be remote. The calendar also adds parent–teacher conference days in November and March as early-release days followed by evening conferences and a teacher exchange day the next day.
Doris said the district coordinated the calendar with regional partners because of limits tied to LRTC programming: "We can only have 5 dissimilar days," she said, noting alignment with neighboring districts. A committee member raised a minor concern that using all three storm makeup days could result in the school year ending on a Monday; the chair acknowledged the point but the committee proceeded to a vote. A motion to approve the calendar was moved and seconded and the motion carried; the transcript records the approval but does not provide a roll-call tally.
The committee also reminded members of a joint school committee–city council budget workshop on April 6 and the next regular school committee meeting on April 15.
