The Physical Therapy Board of California approved the minutes from recent meetings, reviewed its 2026 meeting calendar and outreach plans, and received agency updates at its March 19, 2026 meeting in Sacramento.
President Dr. Karen Brandon asked members to review proposed calendar changes for June and 2027 travel meetings and solicited availability; staff said they would follow up on petitions and adjust dates as needed. The board also discussed an outreach campaign with DCA public affairs to recruit gubernatorial appointees for board vacancies, including a short social-media video series and testimonial clips from current members.
Tamika Island of the California Physical Therapy Association previewed AB 2497, a CPTA‑sponsored modernization of the practice act, and said amended bill language would be available soon. A DCA representative provided administrative updates — including leadership changes, an agency restructure in the governor's budget, and reminders about Form 700 filing deadlines — and licensing staff reported increased application volume with processing times still within target.
The board heard enforcement and probation monitoring updates, including a quarter with 161 new complaints or arrest/conviction reports and a small decrease in probation caseloads. The meeting adjourned at 12:27 p.m.
