The Moraine City Council accepted an Auditor of State award recognizing the city's recent clean financial audit and honored Finance Director Annette Williams for the department's work, officials said.
"This award represents the hard work of all your city employees," said Joe Braden of the Ohio Auditor of State's office while presenting the distinction to the city. Braden reviewed the award criteria, which include filing required reports on time, preparing an annual comprehensive financial report and receiving an audit with no findings for recovery, material weaknesses or significant deficiencies.
Mayor Murphy and council members thanked staff and singled out Williams for her role in maintaining the city's fiscal records. Finance Director Annette Williams told the council the February finance report was included in the meeting packet and thanked the auditor's office for the recognition.
Council also introduced four recently hired police officers. The council's police representative called forward the new officers and invited family and friends to join them for photographs. The officers named during the introduction included Tyler Fox, Sam Wasilewski and Lashay Strickland; the council congratulated all four officers on completing the academy and entering active duty.
The mayor closed the presentation by inviting the group to take photos; no formal vote was required for the recognitions.
Next steps: the city manager said the new community development director, Libby, will start Monday and staff will continue onboarding the new officers.
