Lancaster ISD board adopts revisions to superintendent-evaluation procedures

Lancaster — The Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees discussed and approved revisions to its board operating procedures concerning the superintendent-evaluation process on March 26.

Trustees raised questions about timing—whether goal-setting should follow the academic year or a calendar year—and about language that refers to superintendent-led review steps. Attorney O'Hanlon and Dr. Katrice Pereira explained parts of the draft reflect provisions in the superintendent’s contract. Trustee Smith questioned whether the board should control the evaluation and whether calendar-year timing might better capture a full review cycle; other trustees asked that the evaluation-goal-setting discussion be placed on the work-session agenda for further consideration.

Trustee Kendall Smith moved to accept the proposed revisions; Secretary Morris seconded the motion. The board clerk recorded the motion as carried. Trustees indicated they will review goal-timing and bring the topic to a work session for any additional refinements.

Next steps: the modifications were adopted as proposed; the board plans to discuss goal-setting timing in an upcoming work session.
