Olentangy Local approves two elementary principal appointments; appointee abstains from vote

The Olentangy Local School District Board of Education approved a superintendent recommendation to accept two assistant principals’ resignations because they were being recommended for principal positions.

Superintendent Mr. Meyer presented the human-resources item and recommended a single vote to approve both appointments. He said both candidates were vetted through a "very, very thoughtful, rigorous process" and recommended Angela Ballenger for Oak Creek Elementary School and Erica Harris for Liberty Tree Elementary School.

A motion to approve the superintendent’s recommendation was moved and seconded. Mr. Jenkins conducted a roll-call vote that the transcript records as: Doctor Dabrico — yes; Miss Schreiber — yes; Doctor Wallach — yes; Mister Lester — yes; Mister Rellinger — abstain. The motion carried. The transcript records Rellinger’s statement, "I abstain," when his name was called.
