Board hears positive curriculum audit findings and reports about $6.5 million in personnel-audit savings

Trustees reviewed early results from a curriculum audit and a recent personnel audit at the March meeting, describing the curriculum findings as hopeful and the personnel audit as identifying savings and redeployment opportunities.

Committee member (S2) cautioned that the curriculum comparisons are not always "apples to apples" but said the key takeaway is that the district's K–5 reading rollout is strong and that staff have implemented the curriculum with fidelity. "We're we're moving forward," Committee member (S2) said, adding that the rollout should create opportunities for improved student outcomes.

Committee member (S1) described a recent personnel audit and said the district is "up to about 6 and a half million dollars in terms of our savings." The board discussed using personnel more effectively to support teachers in classrooms and noted the audit compared district staffing with other districts while affirming that Conroe ISD makes independent staffing decisions.

Committee member (S2) also promoted a professional job fair scheduled for March 28 for prospective employees. Committee member (S1) previewed next month’s agenda, saying trustees will discuss Texas standards and the budget; no formal budget votes were taken at this meeting.

The discussion was informational; trustees did not vote to implement specific budget reallocations during the session.
