Meigs County commissioners reviewed several grant-funded equipment purchases and related budget adjustments during the meeting. The county received a state grant request to purchase a specialized breathing-air compressor quoted at $64,500 (described as producing breathing air at about 6,000 PSI), and staff asked the commission to approve authorizing the grant award and to advertise an associated bid.
Separately, staff reported a state commitment to fund a new cardiac monitor with a vendor price of $49,692.67 and requested using $19,389.64 from county reserve funds to complete the required local match. The presenter said reserve balances were sufficient (the mayor had told the presenter the reserves were approximately $319,000) and recommended pulling the match from the equipment reserve to finish the purchase.
Finance staff enumerated additional small budget transfers in the packet: (1) $535 into general-session retirement for a new probation officer line; (2) $200 to supplement ambulance unemployment payroll; (3) payment of volunteer-acting insurance for county volunteers; (4) a $50,000 sanitation payable (to be reimbursed); and (5–7) impact-fund adjustments, including increasing allocations to the jail reserve because the county received more impact funds than expected. Several of the items were presented as routine and slated for formal approval at the next meeting or as part of consent items.
