The Saint Louis Park School Board voted unanimously Wednesday to call a special election on Aug. 11, 2026, asking voters to approve a technology-only bond.
Director Magnuson, who presented the resolution, told the board that the language will be submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education after the board takes action. "We're here tonight with the resolution... the final resolution to call for the election," Magnuson said, adding there is a wording change so that "the bond projects will be submitted" for review and not the capital projects levy.
The change is clerical, Magnuson said, and does not alter the substance of the ballot question; it clarifies that the district is seeking review only of the proposed bond projects tied to technology. Chair Virginia Mancini moved the resolution and the motion passed by voice vote, recorded as 7-0.
Under the motion, the board authorized the clerk and district administration to take "all actions necessary to conduct the election in accordance to Minnesota statutes," including submission of the resolution and posting required notices. The district will send the revised language to the Department of Education for review and finalization.
Next steps: the board directed staff to finalize the resolution language and submit it for the brief review period, and the clerk will complete administrative steps to put the question on the Aug. 11 ballot.
