At its March 12 meeting, the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council approved a number of ordinances, resolutions and procurement actions by roll call or voice vote.
Second readings and approvals included ordinances adopting carbon monoxide detection provisions from the 2024 International Fire Code, several zoning map amendments, and amendments to the Masterson Station Park advisory board membership. Council also approved first‑reading resolutions for a slate of grant acceptances and capital project agreements.
The council voted to suspend the rules and give immediate second reading to selected items including a professional services agreement for a Parks and Recreation master plan (Perez Planning Plus Design LLC), a bid award for Deer Haven Park development, and the Phase 1 site work for the Fire Training Academy. Council approved these motions by voice vote and subsequent roll call as recorded.
Other actions approved included acceptance of grant funds for a household hazardous waste collection ($110,000 grant with $27,500 local match cited in the record), authorization for various procurement contracts (cardiac monitors, bomb technician training, database services), and ratification of civil service appointments. The council also approved two disciplinary personnel actions in the Fire Department after Chief Wells' reports.
Items given immediate second reading under suspended rules were approved by roll call voting later in the meeting. A number of items were read for first reading and will return for future council consideration.
