Panel renewal bill advances to keep Colorado in Clean Air Act compliance

House Bill 26-1208 would extend the existence of Colorado's small-business compliance advisory panel for an additional 10 years to maintain compliance with federal Clean Air Act requirements. Sponsor testimony explained the advisory panel has not met regularly in recent years but remains a federal requirement and that renewing it is a low-burden way to preserve the ability to reactivate the panel if new industry needs arise.

Carlin Gray of the CDPHE Air Pollution Control Division read technical testimony explaining the panel's historic role in providing non-enforcement assistance to small stationary sources and the rationale for renewal. Committee members asked limited questions and the sponsor urged support; the committee voted 5–3 to forward the bill with a favorable recommendation.

The bill advances to the Committee of the Whole; sponsors characterized the move as a compliance and continuity measure rather than a program expansion.
