Brown County commissioners voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Central Texas Rural Transit District to provide coordinated transportation services during emergencies and disasters.
Cliff Garner, the county's emergency management coordinator, told commissioners the MOU is a standard emergency-management template that clarifies how agencies will share resources and support one another before, during and after disasters. "So so MOUs are pretty standard in emergency management," Garner said, adding the agreement creates a framework to assist vulnerable residents, citing dialysis patients as an example.
A commissioner moved to approve the agreement and the board voted in favor. The chair said judge counsel will sign the MOU once the board's action is final.
Supporters said the MOU strengthens mutual aid and operational coordination; no opposition was recorded in the transcript. The item was presented as an action on the agenda and resolved by a voice/hand vote during the meeting.
The board did not provide a roll-call vote tally in the transcript. Next steps recorded in the meeting: counsel will execute the agreement and staff will coordinate implementation with the transit district.
