The Fountain Hills Unified School Board unanimously voted at a special meeting to name Val Reichler as the person the board intends to enter into contract negotiations for the district’s superintendent position, the board chair said.
The action followed a closed-door executive session called “for the purpose of discussion or consideration of employment, specifically the superintendent search, including discussion of a candidate with whom to enter into contract negotiations,” the chair announced before the session. After reconvening, the board moved, seconded and approved the naming of Val Reichler.
The board also approved a motion to designate one board member to represent the board in those negotiations. One member nominated, and another seconded, a board member identified in the record only as “Rich”; the board approved the designation and the member indicated they would serve as the negotiator.
There were no public comments during the meeting’s public-comment period. The chair announced upcoming meeting dates, including a special board meeting on March 25 at 5:00 p.m. and regular meetings on April 8 and April 15 at 6:00 p.m. The board adjourned following routine closing actions.
The immediate next step is for the designated board representative to conduct contract negotiations with Val Reichler; the meeting record does not specify a timeline for concluding those negotiations or any terms under discussion.
