Planning staff working to lift sewer moratorium; Public Works details LID walk-through and repairs

Planning Director Amy Hess told the council that staff is working on processes intended to lift the city's sewer moratorium and that the department is developing a Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan with consultant Eric Jensen. Hess said code amendments are planned over the next 6–12 months as part of that work.

Public Works Director Charles White provided operational updates: a repaired smart cover at manhole #7, two pumps removed and cleared at the Smoots lift station and Suncrest, readiness of a standby generator for winter, and completion of crack sealing on Pine Lane. White said staff performed a walk-through with representatives from Gray & Osborne related to the city's Low Impact Development (LID) retrofit project and that the city investigated a low water pressure concern on Menzel Lake Road.

City Manager Jeff Balentine highlighted passport program financial closeout numbers for 2025 and thanked the team; he also reported upcoming property closings for the fire station and Gun Club Road properties scheduled to close Jan. 29, 2026. The manager provided a brief Wastewater Treatment Plant project status update and listed upcoming administrative work-session topics.

These updates were informational; no formal policy changes or votes on lifting the moratorium were recorded at the meeting. Staff will return with proposed code amendments and procedures as part of forthcoming work sessions and agenda items.
