The council voted on March 19 to appoint community volunteers to two advisory committees.
Kelly Bryant, whose application the clerk said had been included in the council packet, was recommended for appointment to the Keep Woodland Park Beautiful Committee. Bryant described volunteer work in the community and recent participation with the committee shed inventory. Council moved, seconded and approved the appointment; the record shows Bryant abstained on the roll call. After the motion, Bryant recited the oath of office and was welcomed.
Lynn Jones was recommended for the Main Street Committee. Anita Riggle, Main Street manager, noted Jones's local business ownership and prior Main Street service. Jones outlined her past roles on the Main Street board and promotion work; council moved, seconded and approved her appointment. Jones then recited the oath of office.
Why it matters: Volunteer advisory committees manage local programs, events and community beautification; new members can influence projects such as Main Street promotions and community cleanups.
What happens next: Both appointees will participate in committee activities and council liaisons will provide staff support as needed.
