The Granite Falls City Council authorized three related real-estate actions on Dec. 3 to support a planned community center and intergovernmental cooperation.
Council approved entering a Purchase and Sale Agreement with Snohomish County Fire Protection District 17 to acquire the fire station property at 116 S. Granite Ave. for $1,350,000. The council said the city intends to renovate the facility and operate it as a public community center; the City Manager was authorized to execute the Purchase and Sale Agreement and related documents.
In a companion action, the council authorized sale of a city‑owned vacant parcel at 20013 Gun Club Road to Fire District 17 for $350,000 and authorized the City Manager to execute the closing documents. The sale and the purchase are linked in council discussion as part of capacity and facility planning with the fire district.
The council also authorized an interlocal agreement permitting Snohomish County Fire Protection District 17 periodic use of the City’s Community Center at 116 S. Granite Ave. and authorized the City Manager to execute the agreement.
All three motions passed unanimously. The council did not specify the funding source for the purchase or any renovation budget at the meeting; staff follow-up will be required to identify financing, timelines for renovation and any required permits.
