Mayor Pro Tem David Griggs called the Granite Falls City Council meeting to order March 4, 2026. Councilmember Bruce Straughn moved to excuse Councilmembers Steven Glenn and Matthew Hartman because of illness; Councilmember Tom FitzGerald seconded the motion, which passed with ayes from FitzGerald, Griggs and Straughn.
The council then approved the consent agenda on a motion by Straughn and a second from FitzGerald. The consent items included approval of the Feb. 18, 2026 minutes (AB 038-2026), claims checks #416015–416062 totaling $137,147.06 (AB 039-2026), and payroll EFTs for Feb. 1–15, 2026 consisting of 22 transactions totaling $95,647.02 (AB 040-2026). The motion passed with the same three affirmative votes; no nays were recorded.
The council also moved several agenda items to a special meeting on March 11, 2026, including AB 043-2026 (SB 6002 — Driver Privacy Protections and ALPR Program Compliance), AB 044-2026 (City Council size expansion options), and AB 046-2026 (Legion Park proposed layouts and monument design). No final action on those items was taken at the March 4 meeting.
