Maple Valley council approves consent calendar including equipment purchases and Ecology grant; OKs one‑time reimbursement grace period

The Maple Valley City Council approved its consent calendar on Feb. 23, 2026, endorsing a series of contracts and purchases and authorizing staff actions by vote of 7‑0.

Approved consent items included Resolution No. R‑26‑2045, authorizing the City Manager to execute quote Q‑42824‑1 with Azteca Systems, LLC for the sixth amendment to the Cityworks License and Maintenance Agreement; Resolution No. R‑26‑2046 to purchase a 2026 Ford F550 boom truck; Resolution No. R‑26‑2047 to purchase a 2026 Alamo RC 75 Remote Mower; and Resolution No. R‑26‑2048 authorizing the City Manager to execute a grant agreement with the Washington State Department of Ecology for construction of the S‑17 Cedar Downs Water Quality Improvement Project. The consent calendar also included approval of minutes and warrants: vendor and benefit checks 35130–35174, wire transfers 908643–908711, electronic funds transfers 954961–954991, payroll checks 501874–501875, and direct deposits numbered 722948–723050, for a total of $1,337,475.45.

Councilmember Les Burberry moved to approve the consent calendar; Councilmember Victoria Schroff seconded. The motion carried, 7‑0.

Separately, the council approved a Finance Committee recommendation to allow a one‑time grace period for reimbursement submissions for 2025 receipts and mileage through March 1, 2026. The motion was made by Councilmember Dana Parnello and seconded by Councilmember Victoria Schroff and carried 7‑0. Councilmember Syd Dawson requested that the council review reimbursement eligibility and distinctions between travel and non‑travel expenses during the March 9 Council Rules and Procedures discussion.

The minutes also note that Resolution R‑26‑2049 (adopting Maple Valley’s annex element of the King County Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025 Update) will return for approval on the March 9 consent calendar. The council announced a Special Tri City Meeting for Feb. 25, 2026, at Lake Wilderness Lodge, and Mayor Sean P. Kelly adjourned the meeting at 8:27 p.m.
