The Granite Falls City Council handled several routine items and staff reports at its Feb. 18 meeting.
Consent and financial items: The Council added minutes from Jan. 14, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 to the consent agenda and approved the consent agenda, including claims checks #415980–416010 totaling $418,671.36 and payroll claims for Jan. 16–31, 2026 (checks #415933–415935 and 27 EFTs totaling $170,608.47). Motions carried unanimously (AYES: Tom FitzGerald, Steven Glenn, David Griggs, Bruce Straughn).
Appointments: The Council appointed Councilmember Tom FitzGerald as the City’s representative to the DEM Advisory Board and City Manager Jeff Balentine as alternate; the motion passed 4–0.
Staff updates: Public Works Director Charles White reported on pothole patching on Menzel Lake Road, jetting on Leola Lane, tree removal at Perrigoue Ballfields and snow-plowing efforts; he noted the old fire station burn for the Legion has been moved to March 11. Deputy City Clerk Carole Williams summarized takeaways from a Springbrook conference she attended, and City Manager Jeff Balentine provided a brief financial update on passport office operations. Consultant Police Chief Tom Dalton highlighted staff training, SnoCo Alerts and community outreach including 'Coffee with the Chief.'
Other business: Mayor Pro Tem David Griggs noted plans for a Legion Park memorial and a future discussion on appointing additional councilmembers. The Council adjourned at 9:08 p.m.
