Arlington’s airport is moving forward on several capital projects after the city secured more than $6,000,000 in grant funding, a city presenter said during the State of the City address.
The presenter urged residents to review the airport’s draft 20‑year master plan posted on the city website, saying the plan outlines improvements to maintain the facility and explores opportunities for manufacturing, aeronautical businesses, solar or alternative‑fuel sites, a potential vertiport location and a possible air‑taxi terminal.
In 2025 airport staff completed a third phase of fiber installation, laying 10,831 feet of fiber optic cable to improve internet reliability and tenant security. The presenter said the airport plans a taxiway alpha mill and overlay project (repaving) and that the airport’s grant funding will support the construction work; construction of some projects is anticipated in 2026.
The airport will also install a public EV charging station at the airport office parking lot in 2026 and will host community events including the second annual hometown flight and community airport day in August.
Next steps: final grant agreements and construction scheduling in 2026; the airport master plan draft is available for public review on the city website.
