Board members asked about a prior cave-in in Sunshine Park's parking lot and staff said warranty work is in motion.
When asked, Cale Moore said the city has a purchase order in process with a contractor (likely the same contractor working on 1st Street North water-main work) and that he would follow up on scheduling details. "I believe it's a purchase order now... I can follow back up with you," he said, estimating a follow-up within a month.
Later in the meeting staff described a more general communications plan for large projects: coordinated social posts and informational videos beginning about three weeks before major impacts, shared internally and with council. Taylor said staff are working to frame project messages and highlight alternative amenities while construction is underway.
A board member also raised that ice-cream trucks had parked in the park's fire lane and then in a spot that forces patrons to cross landscaped areas; staff said they would inspect and consider a small concrete pad or other solutions to prevent landscaping damage.
Moore and other staff received board thanks for pursuing warranty remedies on the playground turf and for securing manufacturer cooperation that will limit the city's direct costs for replacement work.
