Freeburg trustees approve rezoning of 10 Southgate Drive to B‑2

The Freeburg Board of Trustees on Nov. 17 adopted Ordinance No. 1808 to rezone property at 10 Southgate Drive from B‑1 to B‑2. Trustee Tom Carpenter moved to adopt the ordinance by title and Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling seconded; roll call recorded six ayes and the motion carried.

The Combined Planning and Zoning Board had recommended the rezoning, Mayor Seth Speiser noted, and the item was placed on the board agenda following that recommendation. No public objections or additional conditions were recorded in the board minutes.

Supporters said the rezoning would change the zoning classification to match the owner’s proposed use; no ordinance text amendments beyond the rezoning were detailed in the minutes. The board’s action completes the local legislative step required to change the property’s zoning classification; any future permit or development approvals will follow standard review and building‑permit processes.
