Freeburg reviews water-system upgrades, exposed 14-inch main and EPA reporting

Village Engineer Tim Pruett told trustees that work on a water tower and water line improvements is in permitting and that the village will submit a second railroad permit application and a bypass-funding request this month. Public Works Director John Tolan reported an exposed 14-inch water main behind Evergreen Acres and said staff are negotiating a solution with the property owner.

Tolan also described a water break on FSH property involving a connection tapped from the FSH main to a nursing home feed. Village Attorney Fred Keck told the board he and Tolan have a scheduled call with the Environmental Protection Agency about the administrative consent order. Keck said that because the treatment plant is operational, the village hopes to end the quarterly update requirement but that a final report may still be required.

Trustees recorded these operational updates and requested staff continue coordination with the property owner, engineers and regulatory authorities. No formal action was recorded on repairs or funding in the minutes beyond plans to pursue permitting and bypass funding.
