Lindenhurst staff says contract signed with Lima Excavating for Lake Shore Drive project; resident asks why work was paused

Operations Director Kevin Klahs announced at the Sept. 22 Lindenhurst Village Board meeting that a fully executed contract is in place with Lima Excavating Contractors for the Lake Shore Drive/Sprucewood/Hawthorne Drive Road Construction Project. Klahs said he attended a meeting to discuss project details and said he expects to provide a construction schedule and additional information in the near future.

During the public comment period a resident asked for more information about why the road construction project had been put on hold; the minutes record the question but show no detailed response or schedule beyond staff indicating they will provide more information when available. The minutes do not record a board vote or amendment regarding the contract; the contract was described as fully executed by staff.

Also discussed during staff reports were a Plan Commission public hearing scheduled for Oct. 1 on outdoor dining at the Lindenhurst Center and community events including a District 41 PTO McDonald's fundraiser on Sept. 25 and an Adopt‑A‑Highway cleanup on Oct. 11.
