The Village of Lindenhurst Board voted unanimously Aug. 11 to add Ordinance 25-7-2324, which would amend Title 11 regarding a municipal grocery tax, to its Aug. 25, 2025 meeting agenda. Trustee Ron Grace made the motion and Trustee Pat Dunham seconded; the roll-call vote was 5-0 in favor.
The item was placed on the next agenda for further consideration; no vote on adoption of the ordinance occurred during the Aug. 11 meeting. Mayor Dominic Marturano apologized at the meeting for partisan comments he made during the July 28 discussion of the grocery tax, but the board recorded no substantive debate or amendment to the ordinance text at this session.
Trustee Ron Grace initiated the motion to add the ordinance to the upcoming agenda and Trustee Pat Dunham seconded it. The board’s action was procedural — scheduling reconsideration rather than enacting a tax — and will return to the board for discussion and any possible vote on Aug. 25.
The Aug. 25 agenda will include Ordinance 25-7-2324, described at the Aug. 11 meeting as an amendment to Title 11 regarding a municipal grocery tax. No other details (such as proposed rate or effective date) were presented at the Aug. 11 meeting and therefore remain not specified.
