The Village of Lindenhurst Board voted Aug. 11 to award two public-works contracts aimed at reducing localized flooding and repairing a lagoon basin.
Trustees approved awarding the Fairfield Road storm drain installation contract to Sonday Services for up to $13,600. Public Works recommended extending 155 feet of storm drain onto the property at 2108 Fairfield after persistent ponding prevented regular mowing. Trustee Pat Dunham moved the award, seconded by Trustee Dawn Suchy; the roll-call vote was 5-0 in favor.
The board also approved an excess lagoon resurfacing contract with Prestige Paving for $68,250. Resurfacing the basin had been included in the FY2026 budget, but Prestige Paving was the only respondent to the solicitation and their bid exceeded budget. The board waived competitive bidding before awarding the contract; trustees cited the specialized nature of the work and attributed the over-budget amount to fluctuating asphalt costs. Trustee Dawn Suchy moved to waive competitive bids and award the project, and Trustee Pat Dunham seconded; the roll-call vote was 5-0.
Combined, the two awards total $81,850. The board’s minutes note the storm drain bid was the lowest of three proposals and that the lagoon resurfacing overage was due to market asphalt prices; the record does not include further engineering details or a start date for the work.
