Maywood approves police tech purchases including 15 license‑plate readers and traffic cushions

The Village of Maywood approved several Maywood Police Department equipment purchases and leases as part of an omnibus motion at the June 21 board meeting.

Trustee A. Sanchez moved and Trustee S. Reyes‑Plummer seconded approval of omnibus items that included: a distributive antenna system and bi‑directional amplifiers (DAS/BDA) from Chicago Communications, LLC for $15,949.35; a Solar Evolis digital street speed sign from ElanCity for $6,499; a five‑year lease of 15 license plate reader units (LPRs) from Vigilant Solutions for $124,850 (monthly payments of $2,316 at 4.3% APR); and speed cushions from Traffic Logix Corporation quoted at $30,667. The omnibus motion passed unanimously.

Chief of Police and Interim Village Manager Elijah Willis presented the proposals in the Village Manager's report and noted that Director of Finance Lanya Satchell recommended annual payments for the LPR lease and flagged that the speed cushion purchase was not included in the current budget; the transcript records that the location for speed cushions was revised to 19th and Washington Blvd from an earlier proposed location.
