Maywood board approves intergovernmental agreements to reintroduce School Resource Officer program

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees approved resolutions July 19 to enter into intergovernmental agreements with Proviso Township High School District 209 and Maywood/ Melrose Park/ Broadview District 89 for School Liaison Officer services (SRO program).

Chief of Police Elijah Willis presented the Maywood Police Department proposal dated July 11, 2022 recommending reintroduction of the SRO program as a school safety and crime-prevention measure. The omnibus package of resolutions included authorization to execute intergovernmental agreements between the Village and both school districts; the board approved those resolutions as part of omnibus items A–I.
