The Beardstown City Council on May 7 approved a $3,061.50 contribution to the Cass County Overall Economic Development Committee and appointed City Clerk Brian "Petie" Ruch to the Police Pension Board for a two-year term ending April 30, 2026, during a brief meeting that ran from 6:56 p.m. to 7:03 p.m.
Alderperson Eric Harbin moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the April 16, 2024 meeting and approved them as published; Alderperson Dawn Seward seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote. The council then approved the consent agenda on a motion by Alderperson Mary Davis, seconded by Harbin, by unanimous roll call vote under the omnibus designation.
The council received routine departmental reports for April. The Water Superintendent reported April pumping of 13,799,644 gallons (May 1–April 30: 191,405,488 gallons). The Fire Chief reported 33 calls in April (25 city fires and 8 rural fires) and 280 total incidents year-to-date. Code enforcement and zoning officers submitted no reports.
Alderperson Dawn Seward moved, and Alderperson Mary Davis seconded, approval of "a contribution in the amount of $3,061.50 to the Cass County Overall Economic Development Committee." The motion passed 6–0 on roll call; those recorded as voting yea were Lisa Buhlig, Ron Culves, Mary Davis, Eric Harbin, Keith Schramm and Dawn Seward; Alderpersons Chris Baer and Shawn Taylor were absent.
