The Assembly welcomed Wes Jackson to the floor on Monday, March 30, as members praised his leadership of BRIC and its role in Brooklyn’s cultural life. Miss Forrest introduced Jackson as “president of BRIC,” citing his more than 25 years in media and arts leadership.
Miss Forrest, an Assembly member, asked colleagues to recognize Jackson and BRIC’s work, saying, “Please join me in acknowledging president Wes Jackson and BRIC arts media.” The presiding Speaker added: “On behalf of Miss Forrest, the Speaker, and all members, we welcome BRIC’s president, Mister Jackson, here today to our assembly chamber, extending to you the privileges of the floor.”
In her remarks, Miss Forrest summarized Jackson’s background in creative enterprises and Brooklyn festivals and noted BRIC’s role in presenting and incubating artists throughout Brooklyn. The record also states that BRIC was accepted into the city’s cultural-institution group in September 2025, a development members called historic.
Jackson’s appearance consisted of an introduction and a formal welcome; no legislative action or floor debate concerning BRIC was recorded. The House later stood at ease to allow committees to complete scheduled work.
