Burlington board approves three-year contract to hire Nathan Martin as superintendent

The Burlington Community School District board voted March 30 to approve a three-year contract to hire Nathan Martin as superintendent, with the appointment effective July 1, 2026.

Board leadership said the decision followed several closed-session interviews in the superintendent search. The board took a motion to approve the contract and the motion passed by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the public minutes.

At the meeting chair (S1) congratulated the incoming superintendent and noted Martin will remain in his current role as head building principal at Burlington High School through the end of the school year to support a transition. Board members thanked the search committee and community participants for their involvement in the process.

The board did not discuss contract salary or detailed terms in open session; those specifics were not presented during the regular meeting and were not included in the public discussion. Trustees said they will work on transition details and noted there will be continued leadership at both the school and district levels while the change is implemented.
