Broward College president pitches local partnerships, dual enrollment and AI curriculum to Lauderhill Commission

Broward College President and CEO (identified in the meeting materials) addressed the Lauderhill City Commission about enrollment growth, program pathways, and partnership opportunities.

The president said enrollment is approximately 54,000 and described the college as a major economic engine: "We are a $2,400,000,000 economic engine," he said during the presentation, and added that conferred credentials were up 6% year over year. He emphasized four institutional priorities — enrollment, retention, completion and job placement — and described countywide dual-enrollment reach and the reimagined 'Broward Up' effort.

Commissioners asked about program alignment for Lauderhill residents and possible on-site offerings. City Manager Hobbs said the CRA has acquired a facility and staff and architects are working to design a 25,000-square-foot location that could host certificate programs, satellite training or other non-degree offerings for residents and employers.

Commissioners thanked the president for the presentation; questions focused on vocational pathways, AI preparedness for students and the potential for city-supported satellite programming.
