Morrisville approves purchase of two Church Street parcels for $1.12 million

After returning from closed session, the council voted to approve Resolution 2026‑130‑0 authorizing the purchase of two parcels located at 914 Church Street (approximately 0.45 acres, PIN 0746647356) and 916 Church Street (approximately 0.99 acres, PIN 0746648203) from Linda C. Evans and Lisa Barbee King.

The resolution states the negotiated purchase price is $1,100,000. The purchase agreement includes $5,000 in due‑diligence funds to be credited at closing and staff estimated site assessment costs of about $20,000, bringing the approximate total appropriation to $1,120,000. The resolution directs that the acquisition costs, site assessment, closing costs and legal fees be paid from the town’s Land Acquisition Fund.

The motion to approve the resolution was made from the dais and seconded; the presiding officer called for a vote and the motion carried unanimously (7–0). Town staff said they would execute the purchase contract and handle closing logistics.

The resolution text presented to council lists the parcels by PIN and street address and records the town’s intention to fund the purchase from the Land Acquisition Fund adopted in March 2026. The council did not discuss alternate sites in open session; staff confirmed the purchase will proceed under the terms in the adopted resolution and that the town will pay any associated closing and legal costs from the land fund.
