Deputy First Class David Schrader advised residents to keep valuables out of sight or take them when leaving a vehicle to reduce the risk of smash-and-grab thefts. "Your property must be out of sight or take it with you to stop a criminal from smashing your window and grabbing your valuables," Schrader said.
The show also recapped a memorial blood drive held to honor Senior Deputy Patrick Daly and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon, held about 10 years after deaths referenced in the segment. Host Christy Hopkins said members of the sheriff's office family and citizens joined the American Red Cross event to honor the deputies.
Hopkins presented a cold-case update: on Sept. 14, 2003, deputies found a woman's remains adjacent to the roadway in the 1400 block of Perryman Road in Aberdeen; the victim was identified as Tina Louise Leon of Massachusetts and the death is classified as a homicide. The Harford County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains active and asked anyone with information to contact the investigations division or submit an anonymous tip.
Speakers closed with an appeal to support volunteer fire departments, noting many Harford County firehouses are volunteer-run and rely on community donations and participation to operate.
